Customer Review: Northern California Wine Country
Trip to wine country comes up in September. However, having been to the area many times before I was curious to see what new wineries the book listed and some of the things wineries are delving into beside great wine. Balsamic vinegar has become a hot commodity and I look forward to sampling some at the Terraces Winery in Rutherford. Will update review upon my return in October.

Grenache is most likely the most vastly planted variety of red wine grape in the world. It grows in dry, hot conditions like Spain, and the south of France, since it ripens late. Usually, it has a spicy, berry flavor and is soft on the palate with a relatively high alcohol content, but it does need careful control for the best results. Sometimes it lacks acid, tannin, and color, and is usually blended with other varieties such as Syrah, Carignan, and Cinsaut. Grenache is a dominant variety in many Southern Rhone wines especially in Ch?teauneuf-du-Pape where it is typically over 80% of the blend, and in Australia it is usually blended in ?GSM? blends with Syrah and Mourvedre.

?

??????????? Although Grenache might have originated in Spain, it has since spread over the Pyrenees into southern France and the rest of the Mediterranean. It has been in the same grape variety a Cannonau, which has been claimed to originate in Sardinia. This could suggest the possibility that Grenache is really from Sardinia, and was imported from Spain when Sardinia was under Aragon rule.

?

??????????? Grenache is grown and produced in many different regions now. In Italy, Grenache is also known as Cannonau, especially in Sardinia where it may have been originated from. There have been a lot more plantings in South Australia, especially in McLaren Vale, the Barossa Valley, and Clare Valley. The wines are often a product of old vines grown in excellent conditions, and may be very successful. ?Grenache can make three very different styles of wine in France, where it is planted on nearly 100,000 hectares in the Rh?ne valley and across the huge vineyards of Languedoc-Roussillon, where it may be known as Alicante or Carignane Rousse.? Grenache is also grown in California’s Central Valley.

Customer Review: Handy Book
This book was given to me and became one of several books I have about wine. I was happy to discover that this one is informative, written in a great voice and looks a lot like a small cookbook so it has a new home in my kitchen where I’m often doing my wine drinking. All in all, a handy book to have around.

Customer Review: Great intro to wine
This is a great intro to wine, as well as a good reference for people who already have some wine knowledge. It covers regions, grapes varieties, and food and wine pairings. The language is fun and informative. I really enjoyed it. Will buy it as a fun present with a bottle of wine for friends’ birthdays, etc.

An indispensable guide to selecting, tasting, and serving cheese—with 1,200 varieties classed by family and every entry rich in information. They come from around the world and range from Italian asiago to Spanish idiazabal (a ewe’s milk cheese), from Dutch Gouda to the increasingly rare French Grataron d’Arèches—a soft-pressed, washed-rind, goat’s milk cheese that’s made by only three producers. There are veined British stiltons, double and triple cream Brillat-Savarins, and smoky provolones. Plus, Roland Barthélmy, one of the most prestigious cheese specialists in France, reveals his 100 favorites.

Customer Review: An okay book
First of all I know nothing about cheese.
This is my first cheese book I have looked at. With that being said here’s my review:

This book has some good points: 1) a dictionary of specialized cheese lingo in the back which gives pretty good descriptions of the vocabulary used in cheese making. 2) it has many cheeses, and lots of pictures for a small book. And brief sections on: 3)which cheeses are best in which times of year and 4) how to read cheese labels 4) how to serve cheese/ pair with wine. It actualy covers a lot in such a small book. (even how to introduce cheese to children). It’s written by an expert french cheese maker.

However, the book is translated from french and therefore suffers a bit in english. Sometimes it’s a bit hard to understand what they are saying since it still carries the french way of speaking though using english words. That’s just to warn you. Plus I was disappointed that it was so small in size… but it’s cheap, and I guess easy to carry around if you need to refer to it at some cheese market. It’s not a bad deal for the price and it’s a fairly good introduction to a broad range of cheese topics.

Customer Review: A Great Resource
A phenomenal resource for any lover of great cheese. The author’s knowledge and practical experience come through clearly. A little weak on coverage of American Artesan cheeses, but otherwise a good read and a great reference.

Cabernet Sauvignon, being one of the world’s most renowned wines, is grown in nearly every major wine producing country. This is a very unique and mysterious wine.

Cabernet Sauvignon?s origin was a little unclear because there are many myths and conjunctures surrounding it. The word ?Sauvignon? is believed to have been derived from the French word sauvage, which means wild. It is referred to the grape being a wild Vitis vinifera vine native to France. The grape used to be rumored as having ancient origins.

?

In the past century, Cabernet Sauvignon has become very popular as one of the noblest grapes in the world of wine. Its popularity is built partly on the success in Bordeaux, as well as regions like California and Australia. Planting the grape in any region that can be cultivated it is considered a wise choice. Cabernet has become a familiar wine among consumers which has also aided in its availability and appeal even from vague wine regions and producers.

?

In California, Cabernet Sauvignon has a certain style and reputation recognizable by the world?s market. ?California?s plantings and production of the grape are similar in quantity to those of Bordeaux. In the 80?s, the Phylloxera epidemic swept over California, demolishing most of the vineyards which would later need replanting. There was also speculation that the Cabernet Sauvignon would be replanted with other varietals. The plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon in fact doubled between 88 and 98. Most of the wine regions were dominated by the grape, such as NapaValley north of Yountville and Sonoma’s AlexanderValley.

?

Cabernet Sauvignon is grown in almost every South American country including Chile, Argentina, Peru and Uruguay. In Chile, the wines were historically restricted by the exceptionally high yields that were ordinary throughout the country. ?As producers begun to concentrate on limiting yields, regional differences began to emerge that distinguished Chilean Cabernets.? The climate of the region is the most important consideration for vineyard plantings along flat river valley; soil type is a greater concern as plantings move to higher elevations and along hillsides, ?The wines of the Aconcagua region are noted for their ripe fruit but closed, tight structure that needs some time in the bottle to develop.?

Customer Review: The best for describing the business side of wine
I’ve been looking for books describing the business side of wine. There is really not much out there. This is the best I’ve seen so far. Though it is obviously designed to be more of a textbook for college students, it covers all of the basics and helps one to understand the big picture of the major business issues in wine ranging from accounting, HR, marketing, finance, legal, and general enology and viticulture issues.

From the heart of the wine country, we offer you vintage dipping crackers in elegant grape leaf shapes. These delicate and crip crackers will enhance any occasion. Use with your favorite dip, as an elegant base for canapes, or pair with cheese and hors d’oeuvres. Perfect while wine tasting.

Customer Review: Great!
I was given a box of these crackers, along with some excellent cheese spread, and I must say that they are great! They are more substantial than saltines, which makes them just right for dipping into the spread of your choice. Plus, I really liked the way that their flavor went with the spread.

So, if you are going to having a wine and cheese party, and want a better cracker than your normal run of the mill cracker, then get these dipping crackers, they’re great!

Located Tarrant County, Texas, Grapevine is a lovely suburb of Dallas and Ft. Worth. Named for wild mustang grapes, Grapevine has a population at last count of nearly 50,000 people. Living up to its moniker, Grapevine has become home to a number of blossoming wineries today. Recently, http://CNNMoney.com named Grapevine one of the best places to live in the United States. From an incredible historic district to new developments that feature the latest in stylish residential properties, Grapevine has become a truly expansive and gracious community.

At the heart of Grapevine is a beautiful historic district. A great deal of attention has been paid to renovating and restoring the historic downtown district and its attractive buildings and other amenities. This district quickly is becoming a prime attraction in the Dallas ? Ft. Worth metro-plex.

The historic district is now home to trendy and interesting shops offering a wide range of different types of products. In addition, a range of independently owned bistros are opening their doors to diners not only from Grapevine but from other points beyond in the Dallas ? Ft. Worth area. The historic downtown district is getting high marks from tourists to the area as well.

Grapevine has attracted a large population segment that is dedicated to health, wellness and looking their best. In this regard, many people actively engage the services of professional to assist them with such issues as resolving varicose veins, cellulite and acne scars. Consequently, people no longer have to travel from the environs of Grapevine to obtain the latest treatments for varicose veins, cellulite and acne scars as well as similar types of problems and conditions. Worth area venues of this type. In other words, a resident of Grapevine can access all of the major points of interest and popular establishments with just a short and easy drive. Grapevine residents readily enjoy everything this region of the Lone Star State has to offer.

Most analysts predict that the population of Grapevine is going to continue to increase apace. Indeed, over the course of the past five years, the population has been increasing at the rate of about 1,000 people per year. With that noted, the civic and political leaders of the community, in conjunction with developers, are making certain that the growth of the city is controlled and well managed. A concerted effort is being to ensure that the charming elements that make Grapevine special are not sacrificed in the name of growth and population expansion.
